Challenger Geomatics is proudly employee-owned and has a staff of more than 180 permanent employees operating across western Canada and the North providing surveying, mapping and geomatics services. We’re seeking a Survey Assistant in Fort McMurray or the surrounding Wood Buffalo region to join our growing team. This person will assist the Party Chief on all types of field work including construction, engineering and legal survey assignments.

Responsibilities:

  • Operates survey equipment and assists in the completion of field surveys
  • Interpretation of maps or plans, survey notes and sketches, and submitting field data
  • Cleans and maintains survey equipment, tools & vehicles
  • Coordinates with the Party Chief, and keeps them informed as to progress and problems
  • Performs all field employee health and safety duties as identified in the company’s HSE program

 

Qualifications:

  • 1 to 2 years of related experience or training
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Ability to complete required safety training (First Aid and CPR, H2S Alive, CSTS, WHMIS, etc)
  • Experience with ATV’s and chainsaws an asset
  • Must be willing to travel, work out of town, in remote locations
  • Fit for duty, including successful completion of drug and alcohol testing as required
