Who is Challenger?

Who is Challenger?

Since our founding, we have been an employee-owned firm providing professional surveying, mapping, and remote-sensing services. We also provide consulting and specialized services to the energy, mining, and government sectors.

We have branch offices in Calgary, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Yellowknife, and Fort McMurray, and operate throughout Alberta, Yukon, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories.

Our primary focus is always on providing exceptional service to our clients as we work to solve their unique spatial challenges.

Our History

Incorporated in 1984 as Challenger Surveys & Services, the original founders almost immediately found themselves at a low point in Alberta’s boom-bust cycle. Oil prices tumbled below $10 a barrel and there was very little work happening anywhere. The company persevered through this and many other turbulent times because of its team. During slow periods, the focus was always on coming together and putting Challenger in a position to come out stronger on the other side.

That energy has led Challenger to expand our capabilities. We have made strategic acquisitions over the years to better serve our clients and make Challenger more resilient. Our continued success has been the result of our commitment to exceptional quality, and always striving to exceed client expectations.

Indigenous Partnerships

Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business LogoChallenger is committed to working with each member of our team to realize meaningful corporate initiatives to advance our indigenous partnerships. This includes engaging in meaningful consultation, promoting job, training and education opportunities, as well as fostering cultural understanding.

Challenger Geomatics has developed formal and informal relationships in the Northwest Territories, Yukon Territory, and Alberta. This has enabled us to work extensively with indigenous clients on legal and construction survey projects.

We are an Associate Business Member of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) and Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) program.
